My Experience

After starting as an entertainment writer, I eventually landed at Fast Company, where I discovered my calling: tech reviews. From there, I freelanced until I got a full-time gig at Laptop Magazine, where I spent 14 wonderful years playing with all the toys, from laptops to smartphones and virtual reality, among other bits of tech. I'm passionate about reviewing and helping you find your next great gadget. For PCMag, I primarily contribute gaming laptop and content creator laptop reviews using our full spread of benchmarks and hands-on evaluations.

My Areas of Expertise

  • Laptops and desktops, particularly gaming machines, business models, workstations, and premium ultraportables. (I've covered Windows, macOS, and a teeny bit of linux.)

  • Smartphones, both Android and iOS

  • VR/AR/MR hardware and software

  • Gaming consoles, software, and peripherals

  • All things audio: headphones, earbuds, soundbars, hi-fi, and peripherals

The Technology I Use

I try to live a platform-agnostic lifestyle with my tech. I have a few exceptions: My smartphone will always run on Android, and my laptop will always be a Windows model (because I'm a PC gamer). But professionally, I'm well versed in most things Apple.

I live for a decent kitchen gadget. I own a smoker grill, herb infusion machines, a high-end ice cream maker, and a few sous vide sticks. I yearn to start writing about those food tech experiences, so stay tuned.

Gaming-wise, I've owned every gaming console since the Atari 2600, including the TurboGrafx-16, Sega Dreamcast, and Neo Geo AES. It's a love that I've maintained to this day; I own every modern console, several gaming desktops, and nearly every PC gaming handheld.
